Online ordering is somewhat at the other end of the spectrum. It is designed to provide “cheap eats” – with many companies getting on the act of either doing delivery or assisting in the process. Do you want your food delivered at the right time? Look at Domino’s Pizza. They have dominated the cheap eats section of the pizza market and yet they still have been able to increase their market share. Their formulae is complicated but yet still basic. Their pricing is all about delivery to phone within a specified time. Do I really care that I can see the driver making his way up the driveway? Not likely. We do care that we can though that the food is still nice and hot when it arrives. Domino’s managing director has made the claim that they will be first company to deliver their product by drone and we believe them! It is all about getting the correct information to help you market your products in a timely manner.
We want your money! That is the catch cry of all retailers today. They want your money. To do this they need a lot more detailed knowledge about who you are and where you are. They need to understand the “push and pull” of their market place. As you walk b a certain retailer you will get “nudged” to step inside and browse through their items, that are for sale. Late week’s specials that you thought you couldn’t afford are now in front of you at a price that might cause you to rethink. Credit cards, debit cards or just plain cash. It’s all good. Behind every purchase, is a POS System that captures every piece of data about you that is humanly possible.
Myer sales have fallen despite having access to Coles Frequent Flyer card system. Myers managing director has taken a fall in salary until he can re-lift the figures back to the $60 million they enjoyed in the previous year. Lots of factors but the overall result is still very poor. How do you progress? How do you take an established business?
In the recent years restaurants have become more efficient in being able to predict patterns and movements of sales. Just what it is that you like/dislike? Why/Why not? These and many other questions are being answered by information that is being collected at the Point of Sale (POS).
The current POS System is no longer “just a cash register” – it is a sophisticated device that reports back to Head Office (wherever that may be) on what you want to eat, when and how? You can influence the standard, and efficiency of the service by commenting online about the enjoyable experience you have just had – OR otherwise. Customer reviews are too often being requested by the smart folks, who want you to tell them about your experiences – be they good or bad.
The age of dining has become the age of experience and know toy have the ultimate weapon that can be used to influence the provider of the food. Most POS Systems will allow you to use a Customer Voice type application that will endeavour to tell the provider that your experience has been. The difficulty is getting the provider to take urgent action to the review.
